Product description

This test splitboard set contains splitboard Furberg Big MTN, canted pucks, bindings Spark Tech Toes and bindings Spark Dyno DH and skins G3

The Furberg Big Mtn Split is an updated version of the shape previously called Freeride Split. Its directional shape and long turning radius makes it Furberg's most capable big mountain splitboard to date, designed to excel in the most rugged mountain ranges. The combination of high-speed stability, maneuverability, and catch-free properties is what makes the Big Mtn Split stand out from other splitboards. Its long sidecut radius makes the splitboard calm and forgiving, while the rocker and reverse sidecut in nose and tail make it float remarkably well in powder and remain catch-free in any situation or type of snow you might find in the high-alpine. By incorporating a slight camber on the centre section, the stability, pop and responsiveness have increased considerably and also added grip and stability in skinning mode.

A tongue and groove on the freeride split and all Furberg splits is connecting the board halves and eliminating movement between them. The result is a responsive splitboard that rides more like a regular snowboard.

The Big Mtn Split features the extra heel riser inserts for better hardboot compatibility. This makes it possible to use hardboots with standard Voile heel risers on our splitboards or Spark Dual Height Climbing Wires without the adapter. This option is 20-50g lighter than any of the hardboot specific heel risers on the market.

This might be the most versatile and game-changing splitboard you’ve ever ridden!

The Spark R&D canted pucks and skins G3 Splitboard+ Universal (cut in the shape of this board) are included!

Dimensions: 287-260-275 (160cm), 295-267-283 (165cm), 303-274-291 (170cm)

Radius: 12.8m (160cm), 13.4m (165cm), 14m (170cm)

Features:

  • New rocker/camber profile for more support outside the bindings and improved pop.
  • The tongue and groove on Furberg splitboards eliminate movement between the board halves. Gone is the lack of response that splitboards used to suffer from.
  • A custom ice scraper that can be used to easily clean both board halves and bindings from snow and ice comes along with the splitboard. While not needed most of the time, this is a great tool to have for the conditions where snow tends to stick to the board.
  • Equipped with top mount Spark R&D Fixie Clips, eliminating screw heads on the base.
  • Extra heel riser inserts for better hardboot compatibility. This makes it possible to use hardboots with standard Voile heel risers on our splitboards or Spark Dual Height Climbing Wires without the adapter. This option is 20-50g lighter than any of the hardboot specific heel risers on the market.
  • The turning radius is slightly shorter than previous years to make the snowboard more responsive and playful on hardpack. But don’t worry, our boards still have approximately a 70 % longer turning radius than the average freeride board.
  • Floorboard technology is a tongue and groove on the freeride split and all Furberg splits is connecting the board halves and eliminating vertical play between them. The result is a responsive splitboard that rides more like a regular snowboard.
  • Longer Rocker and Reverse Sidecut radiuses
  • The sidewalls are made of UHMW PE, Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene. These are highly resistant against abrasion and almost impossible to crack (in contrast to ABS sidewalls)
  • The edges are considerably beefier than the industry standard, to be able to withstand harder impacts without cracking or deforming. The edges are fully wrapped around the board for maximum durability.
  • We have been optimizing the core’s mix of Poplar and Paulownia over several years to find the perfect balance between weight, strength and ability to hold flex and shape over time.
  • The base is 1.3 mm thick, which is thicker than the industry standard. This means that you can hit rocks harder without getting core shots and you can stone grind the base more times. Isosport 7500 Sintered is one of the fastest bases available on the market. The thicker base does add a few grams on the weight, but more importantly, it gives the board a much longer life.
  • The Isosport Polyamide topsheet is one of the most durable topsheets on the market. The texture makes the topsheet very scratch resistant and less snow sticks to it. We also make all our topsheets in light colours to further avoid snow sticking to them. Dark-coloured topsheets get warmed up more by the sun and therefore more snow will freeze to them. This is a simple, yet effective way to save weight without compromising on durability and performance
  • Triaxial fibreglass is used to get a good torsional stiffness of the splitboard

Bindings: Spark Tech Toes

Spark R&D Tech Toe is original tech toe designed for the split-hardbooter. With its integrated splitboard touring bracket hole pattern, this tech toe doesn’t need a toe adapter, saving weight, unnecessary parts, and expense. It also has built-in claw mounts for the D Rex Crampons. Couple them with the Hardboot Dual Height Wires to be ready to climb the steep parts of the tour. The Spark Tech Toe is intended for splitboard touring only. For the downhill use the Dyno DH bindings.
