Cannondale made it's first bike (Cannondale RT500) in 1983, prior to that they made bicycle bags and bikie racks.
But the real boom came the same year with the introduction of FT500 series - the ALU road bike. From that day on, Cannondale has been synonymous with premium ALU products. CAAD - Cannondale Advanced Aluminum Design - is probably the most famous abbreviation in the world of ALU frames.
In the field of carbon frames, too, Americans are innovators, as they are practically the first manufacturer to introduce carbon into series production of frames.

But innovation is not over. Cannodale is also one of the biggest innovators in the field of suspension with its Moto, Headshock, Lefty series. Back in 2001, they were probably the first manufacturer to offer the Electronic Suspension Lock (Lefty E-LO) as a standard.

As carbons masters they were also very active in constructing softtail full suspension systems - they knew long ago what strategic carbon resilience meant - a term and practice that is now standard in frame making.
