The common feature of all on-piste all-mountain skis is their noticeably wider waist under the ski boot: 77 mm and wider. These skis combine all the advantages of all-round models — predictable and stable edge grip, torsional stability and responsive performance. The increased width under the boot and the more pronounced front rocker add improved flotation. This becomes especially evident in all piste conditions, including fresh and soft newly fallen snow, softer and variable snow in warmer winter conditions, spring skiing, and even allows for a few enjoyable turns just outside the groomed slopes.

On-piste all-mountain skis are designed for a wide range of skiers. The greater waist width results in slightly slower and less aggressive edge-to-edge transitions, while at the same time providing increased stability and predictability at higher speeds. The turn radius of all-mountain skis is generally somewhat longer, allowing for stable medium and long turns regardless of snow conditions or skill level — making them an excellent choice for progression of less experienced and intermediate skiers. More experienced skiers will appreciate their stability and confidence at medium to high speeds. When choosing this type of ski, and with the goal of enhanced stability and flotation, skiers will typically opt for slightly longer ski lengths.
